We've Been Busy

I wanted to bring you all up to date on what the heck has been going on with us since I last posted anything.

First, I apologize for sending out a test post but the company that owns whatever this is that allows me to post things, went under a bridge for a while and it messed up my ability to get you an email to let you know a new blog was posted. While this may have been good news for a vast majority of you there were a few that wondered if I had died. Things should be working properly again.

Secondly, while I almost did die, it is going to take more than a couple of surgeons at Eisenhower to put me down. I am well on the road to recovery and thank you to all those that reached out to me with get well wishes. For those of you that had the under on me, sorry but you lose.

Third, we have been crazy busy these past two months. We spent a week plus getting my mom's house on the market. We had an offer the first day and accepted it. Then we had a hiccup with the buyer who walked away only to return the next weekend with the same offer and we accepted it again. Then, because only in California can you have this kind of fun, it took us seven more weeks to close. I won't get into the gory details but you can blame the two indian cousins that owned the land the HOA is on, the BIA for their ridiculous hoop jumping steps, and of course California for their seven hundred rules and regulations regarding the simple process of selling your house to another person.

Fourth on our list of activities that has kept us off the streets, is dealing with the utilities to close out my mom's accounts. Nice people who will set you up as a customer in five seconds and allow you to stop being one in seven days. Then, since they know that the person on the account is dead they determine that it is perfectly fine to mail a refund check in their name so that you can't cash it. When you call them and ask them why they did that they say, "Oh did we do that?" "Sorry, it will only take us another month to get it back to you in your name."

Lastly, on our to do list was we decided to sell our car and buy a new one which will be our last car. Unfortunately we sold it in one day which meant we had to find a rental for the week of Coachella. No problem. Nice of the car rental companies to jack up the rental prices by 300% for the event. Fortunately, we got twice what we expected to get for the old car so that helped soften the blow. We then bought a new car in one day and returned the rental, much to the disappointment of the rental company.

Now for this upcoming week I have been asked by our county to serve them in their time of need by being a juror. How the county thinks I am anyones peer remains a mystery but tomorrow I trudge to the courthouse in Indio where one look will tell them they got the wrong guy and I hope to be released of my duty for another six months when they will try again.

So, sorry to have been absent on my blog writing but on a final note, I have started writing my fourth book. I am still not sure if it will be a full book or a short story but I am working away at it almost every day when I have a few hours. I won't spoil the plot but think "I am Joe's Lungs meets The Wonder Years".

Thanks for hanging in there and I will be back to writing this blog soon.
