And The Winner Is...

With the playoffs starting tomorrow it is time for my almost always incorrect predictions for this years MLB Playoffs.

Let's start in the junior circuit.

Cleveland has just spent the last two weeks thrashing the Tigers and has them demoralized at losing the huge lead they had for most of the summer. Therefore I will pick Detroit to beat Cleveland in three and advance to face Seattle.

If you are like me then you are sick of the Yankee - Red Sox rivalry that was worth watching ten years ago but now both teams are mediocre. Therefore it doesn't matter who wins this but lets toss a dart and call it Red Sox in two. The winner here gets to face the Blue Jays.

After their emotional win over the Guardians the Tigers are spent and lose in six to the Mariners. Same goes for the Red Sox who lose in six to the Blue Jays.

Seattle pitching beats the Jays hitting and the Mariners win the ALCS in five.

Now for the senior circuit.

After backing into the playoffs for the first time since Marge Schott, the Reds have nothing left to beat the Dodgers but scare them by taking it to three games. Dodgers advance to face the Phillies.

My two favorite teams face off in Chicago and while both are on a roll the Padres bullpen slows down the Cubs bats and San Diego advances to face Milwaukee.

The LA - Philadelphia series will be a barn burner with the fighting Phillies winning it in seven games. Their starting pitching is better and that seals it for them.

Meanwhile the battle between two teams who have never won a world series will go only five games as the Padres beat the Brewers because they still have the best bullpen in baseball and the Brewers pitching is a mess.

Philadelphia is beat up after a grinding series against LA and they fall to the Friars in six games.

So an all West Coast World Series, again featuring two teams who have never won one, will have the folks at Fox Sports jumping out of windows in dread and the players pissed off at the crazy early start times for national tv back East. It will end up costing Fox millions in lost ad revenue but finally give this team their first World Series win in seven games.
