Breaking News

As many of you know I stopped posting and reading any social media several months ago for my sanity. I have, however, continued to follow the news by reading postings on my home page of Yahoo. One of the things I like about it is they offer stories from a cross section of news sources from Fox, The Hill, and The Wall Street Journal to name a few on the right, to Huff Post, MSNBC, and others on the left. It gives me a cross section of viewpoints.

What they all have in common, according to most of the stories, is that the world is coming to an end and all of us have collectively lost our minds. I can't speak to the former because I do not have any inside information from the guy upstairs but I can speak to the latter because they are right, we are losing our minds.

If the doom and gloom stories don't make you crazy then the comments surely will. Well, that is the comments that Yahoo allows to be posted. The editor/bot in charge of deciding what can be said is of the mindset of an eighty year old Sunday school teacher. If you write the word stupid it gets rejected. If there is a swear word in the headline or story and you repeat it you get rejected. Their rules are like those our mothers had for us growing up, nonsensical.

Anyway, back to my point here. Each day I am more and more shocked at how weak minded we have become as a country. People are living in terror over everything. They are worried sick about the election, the cost of bread, the war in Gaza, and on and on. So much so that they aren't sleeping and are on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Really?!?!

I wonder if they are confusing anger with worry? I'm not worried about any of this crap because I really could care less but more importantly I can't control any of it, except who I vote for. I am angry about most of the nuttiness surrounding various issues and people. My solution is to write a response to them on the comments section and point out their stupidity for thinking or saying what they are thinking or saying. But that's me.

There are polls daily telling us that a majority of Americans are sure the election will be stolen, corrupt, or illegal. There is another poll letting us know that all of our neighbors think life was better under Trump. It wasn't but many people believe this lie apparently forgetting he killed nearly a million of us by not doing anything to stop the spread of covid. And the polls just keep going on and on with bad news and finger pointing. Enough already.

Let me make this as clear as I can. Only you can control your anxiety and fear. If you let people, the media, or especially a lying politician get to you then you only have you to blame. Here is the only solution you can control, vote for the person you think will do the best job to keep our country safe and secure and our democracy strong. That's all you can do, everything else is a waste of your time and energy.
