Catching Up

I thought by now I would have fully recovered from my birthday reunion with the girls and Tom but once again life has gotten in the way and I have been running at two hundred miles an hour since I got back home.

So what has happened since you've been back you ask? Well not much.

While on vacation I received a phone call from my sister letting me know that our mother had a fall at a neighbors house and was taken to a local hospital to be given ten staples in her head to close a gash. Word was that she was fine so I continued to enjoy myself.

I returned home Saturday afternoon, spent Sunday writing my blog and doing laundry and at 3:00 AM received a call from said mother that she had fallen in her bathroom during the night and was bleeding. I suggested she might call 9-1-1 and frantically got dressed, brushed my teeth, and raced over to her house where the paramedics were being entertained by a surprisingly spry ninety-three year old with a bloody head.

They took her to the hospital while I followed and long story short they replaced the staples with six larger ones and discovered she had a small bleed in her stomach which they closed and kept her there for three days. They determined this was the reason for her dizziness and fainting and not brain damage which was my bet.

She is back home and recovering, complaining about everything, and generally making a huge stink because she has never been sick before and doesn't know that what she is feeling is normal. I'm sure we will get past this at some point but sometimes I see a pillow and start thinking...

Did anyone hear that Biden dropped out? Apparently Nancy Pelosi called him and told him politely that he was killing the Democratic Party and if he didn't drop out she would kill him. So after thinking about it for a nanosecond he agreed and suddenly, we have a race!

Turns out that Vice-President Kamala Harris is a better option for the Democrats than Biden was and her selection of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has gotten those that were unhappy with their choices prior to this change excited and the Democrats might have a chance to post a huge win in November. Apparently the American public is not excited about this ticket anymore.

Trump/Vance and many of the down ticket races are heading for a political beating for the GOP and don't be surprised if it spells the end of the Trumplican party once and for all. This election might put the GOP behind for decades and frankly it couldn't happen to a more deserving party.

The Olympics just ended and while I'm going through withdrawals I wanted to point out that the two most dominant Olympians for the USA were women.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (above top) and Katie Ledecky (above bottom) are in a world all to their own. Sydney won the 400M hurdles by such a big margin they had to open up the shot to see the other racers. It was like Secretariat winning the Belmont. Her world record time was better than, and maybe you should sit down for this, sixteen of the twenty four racers who ran in the preliminary and final for the 400M race without hurdles. I can't even get my mind around that no matter how many times I think about it. She then ran in the 4x400 relay as the second leg where she took the USA from sightly behind to such a huge lead that the other two racers for the USA only had to stay on their feet to win with an Olympic record.

Katie is just not human in the water. Like Sydney she won her 1500M event by almost the length of the pool. The picture above is early on in the race and like the 400M hurdles final they needed to take a high shot from above the pool just to see the other swimmers nearly forty meters behind her. In her preliminary race she won by twenty seconds. Friends that is ridiculous. Twenty seconds in swimming is like two and a half lifetimes. She blew away anyone she raced and she is the greatest female swimmer of all time. By a mile.

Finally, I want to say something to those that continue to complain about the cost of groceries and feel that blaming the Biden administration is the logical thing to do.

The reason that prices continue to be higher is from several factors. The war in the Ukraine caused shortages that drove up prices. Covid was also to blame, specifically due to the shortage of drivers to pick up the food from the docks and deliver them to the supply chain. Corporate greed is another huge problem as the food suppliers and the grocery stores saw an opportunity to grab as much profit as they could and refuse to lower prices still.

Blaming Biden for this is just not right and the people complaining the most are the same ass wipes who happily spend $8 for a cup of coffee at Starbucks every single day but are outraged at a dozen eggs for $4.

People, this is life. Stuff cost more. We live on a limited income and yet we still are able to eat, drive, and live life. Get over it already.
