Catching Up

Happy June everyone! As I was scanning the headlines this morning I realized that there were a couple of things that I wanted to comment on but none of them were worthy of an entire column, so, here are a few brief thoughts for you this Monday morning.

I get asked a lot, why do I have such an affinity for women's sports versus men's. Well, a story today about something that happened at the French Open is one example. Two men had a nearly five hour match yesterday and afterwards the losing player said that there should have been a male referee and not a female one because they needed someone stronger.
I'm not going to name names because it isn't important and you wouldn't recognize his name anyway he's so far down on the ranking list but the point is that the sexism running wild in men's sports is more than I can stand anymore. I shouldn't be surprised by it but I am. When I was playing there was the occasional comment but generally we rarely talked about girls in the sport, or in other sports. Today, the male chauvinism shown by athletes on the men's side is rampant.
Nobody gives a crap what some overrated, too highly paid, average talent, dope thinks. But the sexism is just one part of why I am no longer that interested in male sports, there is the lack of sportsmanship on the men's side that has disappeared from the games. If you watch a ladies sporting event you will see them applauding for each other when they do something exceptional, or even make a routine play. The respect they show for each other is on full display while on the men's side it is posturing and self promoting until I want to throw up. Look, of course there is trash talk going on in women's sports, but it isn't the all game long nonsense like the men show.
Finally, the ladies are just one hundred percent more fan friendly. Watch after the LPGA golfer finishes her round the number of autographs and pictures they take and give to fans. Watch the WNBA players low fiving young girls who have come out to see their hero's. Notice how the women tennis players will sign autographs after their match, win or lose. Then go watch the men. They ignore most kids, they refuse to sign autographs, and they rarely allow their picture to be taken with a fan. One group knows how to grow their sport while the other is just interested in hanging with their posse and raking in their pot of gold.

The protests going on outside Delaney Hall in New Jersey this past week is but one gathering of people protesting the treatment of those that have been arrested, many for no reason other than being Latino. The way the brown shirts in this administration are treating people is disgusting and shameful but it is only surpassed by the rampant racist support of the cult members on social media.
These centers are being shown to be unsafe and unhealthy and yet nothing is being done to fix them. Children are being held in conditions that are appaling. People that have no criminal background are being scooped up and held for weeks for no reason and with no hearings. This is not acceptable.
Then you go to the comments section of news stories and the MAGA morons writing about what is happening is even more depressing than the story. They are applauding the horrible conditions, the lawless arrests, and the abuse these poor people are suffering. And not only are they applauding it, they are reveling in it. Rolling around in the pain and suffering of these folks like someone just dropped a thousand hundred dollar bills on their beds.
It makes me sick to my stomach and I wish that when sanity returns to our government in the form of Democrat control that the ICE brownshirts and their gestapo leaders all get rounded up and thrown in those same cells and conditions for four or five months minimum.

Speaking of disgusting, the felon just was forced to remove his name from the Kennedy Center by a federal judge with no provision of appeal. This is not the first time this month that he has lost in court to slap his name or likeness on a building or monument. Also, like the other times, he has taken to his social media account to spew a rambling, dangerous, and mostly incoherent list of grievances against that judge, and now the judges wife and family.
He has turned the once beautiful White House into an Alabama redneck front yard, gotten two airports to change their names to his name, and is wasting trillions of our tax dollars on various other monuments and buildings he wants gilded in gold with his name on them.
The amount of money we will have to spend to remove all this shit once he is dead or out of office breaks my heart when we have millions of people that no longer can afford health care, gas, or food.

I remember when I was a small child the crows flying around my backyard and being semi afraid of them because they made a lot of noise and chased away other birds. Back then they were smallish but bully's and it was more their sound than their size that scared me.
Now, they are the size of ravens, or bigger, here in the desert and they are a major nuisance to birds, dogs, humans, and anything else they deem unworthy. The other night I was sitting in my living room watching TV with my eyes closed, like I normally do before going to bed, when suddenly it sounded like the ceiling was about to cave in and I was sure we were having an earthquake.
It turns out that there were three of these beasts on the roof fighting each other for dominance of the block and flapping wings, and I assume each other, around between the roof shingle section and the metal roof section. I swear I was about to go grab Linda and run for safety.
I went outside and banged on the underside of the roof on the patio and they took off and as I stood there making sure they didn't come back with the water hose turned on and ready to fire, they swooped back and came after my head. Well, that pissed me off and I stood out there and hosed them down for the next twenty minutes as they tried to take back their territory.
The next morning I woke up to see they had decided to make a statement to me on my sidewalk, bench, and patio with nice large poop bombs. I'm not done fighting this battle and it may be time for me to go against my personal belief in weaponry by buying a BB gun. Bastards.
