Frustration Creeping In

I had a dear friend send me an email over the weekend passionately asking me to be their voice in pointing out how the carnage and evil that is ICE right now is a mirror of what we saw in the lead up to WWll. The fear, anger, and heartache was palpable in their note as frustration over how to stop what is happening has turned to fear about what it all means.

And while I agree that there is plenty to be concerned about with how ICE is completely out of control, they are but one of several concerns I have with what is happening today in our country. I wrote about a few of these things a week or so ago and you can go back and read it if you've missed it. https://www.chiguysproductions.com/post/it-s-pretty-clear

In my opinion, the bigger problem we have is that the country is divided into three groups who are entrenched in their beliefs and refuse to even listen to any other viewpoint. Sadly, I will admit that I am guilty of doing this myself. While I'm not proud of it, I will excuse everyone that is doing it because there is deep frustration that nobody else sees what you see.

These three groups, and we all are in one of them, could not be further apart on what makes sense for them in our country today. There was a time in the not to distant past when people with different ideas could sit down and find some common ground to work together and govern in a fair and reasonable way. Unfortunately, those days are ancient history and we are likely never to return to them.

There is about twenty-five percent of the country that is radically in the Trump cult and there is an equal number of people radically in the progressive movement. You want to talk about being miles apart, those two groups are light years apart. Now, I'm not talking about conservatives and liberals here. I'm talking about the MAGA cult and the Progressive fanatics. There is a big difference.

What these two disparate groups share in common is their inability to clearly see nuances in issues. For them it is either black or white, there is no gray. As such, they can't understand the concept of compromise. It is their way or the highway. You can understand their hatred for each other but what is a surprising development is how much they despise the rest of the fifty percent of the country that falls in the Moderates camp. Both sides view this group as the single biggest problem with our country.

The funny thing is that the right and the left both have no idea what exactly they want for our country, they just know they don't want what we have. If you are on social media you can read every day hundreds of postings that both groups members put out that is negative about one thing or another but rarely do you find a posting that actually says what they want. Being unhappy is fine. It is a healthy attitude that our country has used to improve ourselves over the years. Being unhappy with no ideas as to how to fix issues is just being a whinny asshole. As an example you can see the crybaby in chief talk.

Those in the moderate camp are less likely to get involved in marches, letter writing campaigns, or activism. They are more likely to watch both ends pull the country apart and wonder how they can't see the harm they are doing. They make their feelings known at the ballot boxes but not enough of them get off their lazy asses and go out and actually vote thus allowing the extremes to control the political landscape. How is that working out for America?

This will piss off half of the country and many of my friends but the truth is that the cult is filled with stupid people who want another stupid person to tell the world about their grievances and fears while the progressive mob is book smart but lack an ounce of common sense and think everyone should just listen to them because they have a masters degree in art history.

Now I'm not saying the middle doesn't have their share of idiots and common sense rejects also but while they don't want the country to go back to the 1800's, they would like to see some old fashioned political working together happening. The vast majority of us are pretty close to each other on most issues. We just need our political leaders to stop being sheep and start doing their damn job.

Step one is removing the idiot in chief from office before he hurts himself and our country forever. Ripping apart NATO and starting WWlll is clearly not in our best interest. If you just listen to him for thirty seconds it is clear that he has lost his mind and needs to be removed right away. While the next guy in charge is a whack job himself, he doesn't have the political clout to control Congress and the country can operate with him until a new regime is voted in, in 2028.

Step two is removing the cult from the DOJ and get them back to actually following the law and not ignoring it while trying to settle perceived scores of the previously mentioned idiot in chief. We have always been a country of laws and law abiders and when you stop being this then you are just another criminal yourself.

Step three, stop whining and wringing your hands about shit and get out and actually vote people in who are not crazy. We can't fix this mess if we keep electing the same people back in. Time to clean house.

Finally, if you are in the middle politically then you need to let people know on the extremes that they are nuts and/or stupid. If you don't tell them then how can they get well. We have tried extremism now for the past twenty years and it is not working. It is time to go back to moderation and common sense before we end up in either a civil war, again, or another world war, or god forbid, both.
