My Head Hurts

As if my days aren't already like a crap sandwich because of medical issues with my mother, my dog, my wife, and me, I also am in the middle of a social media maze that I can't escape of stupidity, misinformation, and delusion. There are plenty of additional side trips to nonsense and mayhem but I need to move on here.

The vast numbers of people on social media fall into one of these categories. Not surprisingly, they like to communicate with each other more than they like to have discussions with the other. You will find mostly MAGA Conservatives on X, for example, while the new place to be for Progressives is BlueSky. Of course you will find a few of each on both sites but this has become the break for each side.

If women are from Venus and men are from Mars then Conservatives are from Earth 2 while progressives are from Pluto. They don't look alike, speak alike, or think alike. Here is not a news flash, they never will in our lifetimes. My struggle is with the Progressives in the US.

I have the MAGA conservatives figured out. They are mostly ignorant and easily tricked into believing that anything a 34 times convicted felon, with multiple sexual assault charges against him, and has proven to be a pathological liar, tells them. While I have this figured out I still will never be able to understand it at all. Their cultlike devotion to him is frighteningly scary and they are completely deranged and delusional if you say anything bad about him. They will never be helped and I can't waste my time with them any longer so I'm moving on and my advice is so should you.

The Progressives are another story. Like the Democratic Party itself, this group is fractured into many different pieces and levels. If you read their rants on BlueSky, like I do all day long, it becomes pretty clear that they really don't have an agenda, or at least not one they can verbalized or put in writing.

They want the Democratic leadership to do something to stop the felon and his cult. They will refuse to vote for any Democrat if they aren't voicing their concerns and doing something to right a wrong. When the Democrats say they will fight the GOP on the upcoming budget to take away funding for ICE and to fix the destruction they did to our insurance with the last bill, both worthy causes you would think, the left says this is exactly not what they want because it plays right into the hands of the GOP and the insurance mob.

They insist that they want the Democrats to stand up and voice concerns about various topics like Gaza, ICE, the Supreme Court, etc., yet when any Democrat voices his or her displeasure with the GOP or the felon on these topics, they complain that all they do is talk but they don't do anything.

They want action from their leadership so when Gavin Newsom goes on X and rips the felon with tweets in the format and voice of the felon which draws wide approval from many, the left wonders why so many are glorifying this guy when he is anti Trans. (He's not, but that is for another day)

I have asked hundreds of times on BlueSky to those Progressives that seem the most unhappy, what exactly do they want the Democrats to do while they are in the minority in Congress and mostly I get either crickets or the reply to just do something. And then one day I received the list above from one.

Finally, something concrete that can be used as a guideline to follow to make the left happy. Now, all this will take time to sort out and find the right people for the job and if the goal is to take back the White House in 2028 then this is a workable list. Here is the thing. There will likely not be any elections starting in 2026 until the felon dies or is killed. There is almost no chance he is going to allow elections if there is any sniff that the Democrats will regain majority in either house and you can forget him ever leaving office alive.

One of the lefts biggest complaint is that the leadership of the Democratic Party will not allow Bernie Sanders to rightfully take his place at the top of the party and be the choice for President. Well, the only problem I have with that is, actually I have two problems with it, first he is not a member of the party, he is an independent, and two by not holding any primaries and anointing him it will accomplish the exact same thing that happened with Harris that they were so upset with no primaries they refused to vote for her thus putting the felon back in the White House.

As an independent myself the feedback I get from many on line is that I am a fascist GOP scumbag and anti Trans because of my centrists position on many issues. In the interest of truth in reporting, I do lean left on social issues and do trend right on financial ones, I am fully anti felon and anti MAGA and I would love to see the Epstein files released, unredacted except for the names of the victims.

You can see why the progressive left has me confused and the reason is because they are confused themselves. I want to see them succeed and I believe in many of their causes myself but for god's sakes they need to get their heads out of their asses and figure out exactly what the hell they want their leadership to do and more importantly, learn how the government actually works so that their expectations are not impossible.

The party in the minority in Congress can not do very much and can only hold up legislation for so long before rules dictate that the party in the majority can move things along. I know this makes the left crazy but it is the way it works. I do agree with them that the Democrats need to take off the kid gloves when they are back in power and make sweeping changes to how things are done in DC and fix the things this MAGA GOP has broken, by any means. No more playing nice because the other side isn't.

Right now the focus for Democrats needs to be on slowing down the GOP while getting the party organized for the 2026 midterms where they have a real chance to take back the House for sure and maybe even the Senate if things fall into place. Once they are in power they will be able to stop the felon and his thugs from their power grab and authoritarian mission.

The progressives need to understand they do not have enough votes to take control of the party alone. They need the centrists to help them and pushing them aside and treating them like they are the enemy is not helping their cause. They need to find a leader cleareyed and willing to compromise on some issues to win the bigger prizes.
