No Kings

ree

Regular readers of this blog are well aware of the fact that I hate the felon more than I have ever hated anyone on earth. There is nothing redeeming about this fool and as he gets older he is getting crazier and more dangerous and every single day I wake up and hope to read that he died. But, he is still here and he is still doing dangerous things.

As a person that grew up in the 1960's, I saw, read, and lived stories about protests happening during that period. I protested myself against the Viet Nam war and against racial discrimination. I saw first hand how people standing up and saying this is not acceptable forced the country to change and brought about many good things including ending the war and enacting legislation to insure we all had the rights laid out in the Constitution.

However, that was then and this is now.

For mass protests to work there needs to be other things happening that help make them successful. First, the people you are protesting against have to be paying attention and they have to understand that a significant portion of the country is not happy with them and their policies. Our current President doesn't give a shit about how unhappy you are. In fact he is thrilled that you are unhappy because that is his ultimate goal, piss off the left as much as possible. He only cares about himself and his base and they are not out protesting.

(Oct. 18, 2025 No Kings rally from L - R: Minnesota, Kentucky, Idaho)

Second, you can have citizens marching in the streets until the cows come home but it takes phone calls from corporate America to the power brokers telling them that their businesses are being negatively effected by people who want them to stop supporting those in charge. It made for great TV in the 60's to see people marching and getting clobbered by the police, but it was the giant corporations that put pressure on the politicians to end the war and stop discriminating to make things happen.

Third, and this may be the most important point, you need to vote out of office those that aren't listening to your calls for change. Politicians understand two things. One, they need massive amounts of money to stay in office, and two, they need to keep having the minions voting for them. If you cut off their money and stop voting for them they are gone. It is that simple.

The coordinators of the No kings rally, and the press, are happily pointing out that nearly seven million people marched yesterday in support of their platform. This was across the entire United States. Seven million people. To put that in perspective, above are some pictures showing just a portion of the five million people in Chicago that showed up for the rally to celebrate the Cubs winning the World Series in 2016 for the first time in 103 years. Five million people. This was the seventh largest gathering in human history and it happened in one place. Seven million spread across the country is not a big deal.

The story is that rally's were held in 2700 locations, including many red states and red districts. This is the lead on the rally's. The map above, and other maps, showing the locations of the rallies is what gets your attention. Yes it looks bare as you get West, but that is because there are no towns in much of that area, and unless you are a felon loving moron, or one of his media sycophants, it is impressive.

All this needs to be followed up with people cancelling subscriptions to newspapers, streaming services, and shopping sites that are supporting the felon and his thugs. Yes I'm talking to you Jeff Bezos. Then there needs to be a coordinated effort to reach out to corporate America that continues to give campaign money to those on the right that allows them to continue to run for office and tell them you are not going to purchase their products any more until they stop giving these people money. Finally, stop shopping at stores that are carrying products from these corporate giants and force them to put pressure on them too.

I know for many of you participating in these rally's it makes you feel like you are doing something, but the truth is, it is a waste of time. If the people you are trying to let know that you are unhappy, aren't paying attention, or even worse, they think you are just nuts, then you have no influence with them.

If you really want to use your time valuably start writing letters and start registering voters to vote these clowns out of office. Then, connect with a local or national campaign and go knock on doors and make sure new people get elected that represent your view on the issues.

Marching worked in the 60's and 70's. It doesn't work today.
