Thanks For Your Concerns

I want to thank all those that reached out to wish me a speedy recovery and to all those that wished I would just go away, too bad, you lost again.

Apparently it is going to take more than two surgeons and ten nurses and support staff to bring me down, no matter how hard they tried. It has now been two weeks since my simple surgery turned exciting and this week for the first time since, I actually feel normal again. I said I was 99.9% to an old friend and he said I've never been 99.9% and he is probably right.

After coming home from ICU I just didn't feel right and after three days of not doing anything about it, as is my usual course of action, my family convinced me to call my cardiologist and say something. They actually wanted me to go to the emergency room but I knew I wasn't in that kind of discomfort, so when he wanted me to come in the next morning and I explained what I was feeling he confirmed what I secretly thought, I was still draining fluid around my heart and that was what was making it difficult for me to breathe.

He put me on Lasik and by that afternoon I was going to the bathroom every fifteen minutes so I knew it was working. Within two days I felt better and after a few more I felt back to normal and have been on the road to recovery ever since.

I have not started rehab yet, he wants me to wait for another two weeks but I am pushing myself to do more things to build up my strength. Grocery shopping is like running a half marathon and I thought it was ironic while buying pork and beef at Sam's Club that I was out of breath and maybe I should be looking at the fish section instead. Now where is the bacon again?

Linda has been incredibly supportive and helpful and that has made it easier to do things around here, she might just be a keeper. Losing our dog was a gut punch, even if she was nineteen. It was almost like Ellie wanted to make sure I was going to be OK after the surgery so that Linda wouldn't be alone, and once she determined I was, she decided it was time to go. (Sigh)

Anyway. I'm getting better every day and unless I really do something stupid it looks like I'll be around for a while. Thanks again to all that reached out and I promise to take better care of myself.
