We should have expected it would be like this. We finally get rid of one ginormous crazy person, only to realize he was hiding 100 smaller crazy persons we couldn't see. Now, in the light of a new day, it is suddenly clear that we have so many little shit storms going on in Washington D.C., that we might never completely clear the deck.
I could write about hundreds of things, but I'll focus instead on a handful. Trust me, this is only the tip of the iceberg of what we have to deal with right now. Who knows what direction some, or all, of these will take that might lead to more insanity.
Let's begin with the most hated Democrat, on planet Earth, by conservatives, and the conservative media. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, or AOC as she is commonly called, has managed to rocket to the top of the Conservative/Fox News anti American/constitution coverage plan.
What exactly has she done to earn this scorn and hate? Well, I'm not going to lie to you, she does have some crazy ideas and is determined to drag the Democratic Party as far left as it can go. However not all of her ideas are totally nuts. For example she has called for a Medicare for all, and, a Federal Jobs Guarantee plans. While both might seem crazy, most Americans believe that health care and having access to a job are a right as a citizen.
It is hard to fault her on these two issues. Eliminating ICE, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, might be a bit rash. Fixing it seems like a better idea to me. Where she really goes off the rails is her Green New Deal plan. This is so unrealistic that it makes it easy for her enemies to gang up on her and make her look like a kook. Eliminate all airplanes, cows, and buildings is just not going to happen.
That aside, there just doesn't seem to be much of a foundation for the right to have this insatiable fixation on her, especially with so many crazier things to worry about. I guess every cause needs a face and AOC, and The Squad, has become that face for the right. For me she is about 78th on the list of things I'm worrying about.
Now, if you want crazy, let's talk about the newest congressperson from Georgia, Marjorie Taylor Greene. This QAnon following, racially biased, and conspiracy loving lady, is having quite a start to her congressional career.
She has called for the assassination of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Chuck Shumar, and a host of other leading Democrats. And that isn't even the crazy stuff. She has refused to go through the check point in the Capitol, and has been stopped every day for trying to carry a gun onto the House floor, a federal offense.
Another nut, Minority Leader of the House Kevin McCarthy, has put her on the education committee knowing that she has repeatedly spoken out that the school shootings, where many children have died, are all a hoax, created by the Fake News, to get nice normal Republicans, like her, to demand tougher gun laws. Exactly the representation on that committee you want.
She continues to claim that the dope that just lost the election, was robbed, and that Biden is not the legitimate President. She is trying to introduce a bill that would Impeach Biden, and his family. Who voted for her? What the hell is wrong with the people in Georgia?
The GOP continues to stand behind the former idiot in charge, by refusing to even listen to the evidence, which they all saw first hand, that clearly shows you know who got a crazed mob so riled up that they stormed the Capitol, and tried to kill anyone they could find, including his own Vice President.
More excuses from them about how he's learned his lesson, blah, blah, blah. Not a stinking backbone to be found in that party right now, but what else do you expect from the party that brought you Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley, two patriots who weren't afraid to stand up and shout out loud that they don't believe in the constitution, or America.
But my favorite insanity right now, in DC, is the Republican Party going on and on about how the country needs to move on, and start working together to make our lives better, you know, just like they did for the past twelve years where they made sure the Democrats got nothing passed, and went out of their way to destroy the lives of every American that was not part of the 1% in earnings. Hey, how's your massive tax break working out for you? Good times.
So, with the shadow of of stupid fading into the background, the light is shining on Congress brighter than it has for four years, and we can finally see where the stink is coming from. We can begin to make a list to get all the nuts out of there, and put in charge people that actually give a shit about the rest of us, out here trying to stay alive for another day.
Based on how 2020 went, I'm guessing we are not even close to being out of the woods, and safe, from the goofs in Washington. Hang on tight, we are coming into a sweeping turn on the political roller coaster we call our government.
